The 6500 Classic is Nokia’s thinnest phone so far, and is a stunningly beautiful phone too, with its polished metal casing. It’s an easy to use phone that does just what most people want from a phone - make calls, take pictures and play music. Supplied with 1 Gbyte of memory and a stereo headset, it’s already equipped to go. The one thing missing from this 3G phone is video calling. We have deducted marks because of poor battery life and the small keypad. Available in Black or Bronze.
Now here’s a tasty-looking phone. Nokia have finally joined the ultra-thin revolution with the 6500 Classic phone. Incredibly it’s a 3G phone! And doesn’t it look nice, with its sleek aluminium casing (”individually polished”, according to the Nokia blurb) and available in Black and Bronze. Let’s pause a moment to enjoy the looks.
OK, having drooled enough, let’s look at the exterior of the phone in more detail. There’s absolutely nothing to complain about here. Whereas Sony Ericsson seem intent on destroying nice phones with unergonomic keypads, Nokia have learned their lesson from making “cool” keypads and have provided the 6500 Classic with a small but functional keypad and navigation key. The combination of an ergonomic design, a plain Series 40 interface (no Smartphone junk here!) make this an easy phone to use. Power it up, and the next thing to enjoy is the large and ultra high-resolution LCD display boasting the latest 16 million colour display technology. It’s a display that you can easily customise with a choice of themes (wallpapers, sounds, screensavers, and backgrounds).

The Dell Inspiron 1520 series consists of two models. The Inspiron 1520 is built around an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and (in the case of higher-end models) the new Centrino Duo platform, while the Inspiron 1521 trades Intel for an AMD Turion 64 X2 processor and chipset. Aside from processor choices, Dell is also offering color choices: if buyers don’t like the traditional white or black case, they can opt for red, blue, green, yellow, brown, or pink. We’ve seen colorful laptops before–most recently in the Sony VAIO CR series–but we’ve never seen a colored laptop with as many configuration options as the Dell Inspiron 1520 series offers. Add to that such media-friendly options as a built-in Webcam or Blu-Ray disc drive, and the Dell Inspiron 1520 series will definitely appeal to home users who want a solid all-around laptop with a high degree of customization.
Though the Inspiron 1520 series’ feature set is largely average for the midsize category, a few key items stand out. For example, the laptop’s 15.4-inch wide-screen display can be configured with a sharp 1,440×900 or even sharper 1,920×1,200 native resolution. Users who want always-on connectivity can opt for integrated WWAN from Sprint, Verizon, or AT&T (though you’ll have to subscribe to the carriers’ data service). And buyers of the Intel-based Inspiron 1520 will have the option to include a Blu-Ray drive in their system–still a rare choice outside the realm of premium desktop replacement laptops. Of course, these finer features will drive the Inspiron 1520 series well above the $749 starting price, but many home users will appreciate the option to customize their laptop to fit their needs and lifestyles.
Dell has also borrowed a few handy design features from its other laptop lines and incorporated them into the Inspiron 1520 series. Read the rest of this entry »

The LifeBook P8010 is a worthy upgrade to last year’s ultraportable LifeBook, the P7230. Most importantly, it replaces the single-core processor with a low-voltage Core 2 Duo chip. Its dimensions swell slightly to accommodate a bigger 12-inch screen, but it still weighs in at a hair under 3 pounds. While the Apple MacBook Air, the Lenovo ThinkPad X300 and the Toshiba Portege R500 make headlines for their sleek lines and thinness as well as forward-looking features such as solid-state drives, the LifeBook P8010 shuns such obvious attempts at attention. This unassuming ultraportable makes for a very capable travel companion, particularly for business users. It offers security features in a Trusted Platform Module and a fingerprint reader, while finding a comfortable balance between performance and battery life. If you are eyeing high-end ultraportable but can’t fit it into this year’s budget, the LifeBook P8010 provides an affordable and very functional alternative.
While our review unit costs $2,009, Fujitsu is currently offering a fixed configuration for $1,699 that we think is a better deal. You lose 40GB of hard drive space and 1GB of RAM while moving from Vista Business Read the rest of this entry »

The new device, but gets a boost to internal storage (90MB), a new megapixel digital camera, and it loses the side-talking and taco shaped form factor.
Make no mistake, the 7710 is a massive device. It weighs in at 195g (6.87oz) and measures up at 128mm x 69mm x 20mm (5.04″ x 2.72″ x .79″) in size. That is big, for sure, but still what I would consider pocketable - at least when compared to Nokia’s own 9500 Communicator, which is thicker, longer, and heavier. The size is understandable once you see the 7710’s beautiful 65k color TFT display. The display is capable of 65k colors and has a pixel resolution of 640×320. Its touch sensitive surface allows for input via a stylus that is located in a silo at the bottom right front corner of the device. The surface of the display seems reasonably resistant to normal wear and tear.
The main controls of the 7710 are Read the rest of this entry »
