Fist time I see this phone just “Wow” This is an Amazing phone with Nokia quality. After long time I have never seen Nokiacreated improvement for their product, but after found this one I’m actually interesting and might buy one Nokia x5 for myself.

For me personally this phone is good enough but I’m just curious WHY Nokia NEVER built an high quality phone with all function people need this day! This might caused by market? hehehe.. If this phone built with all function this day I think this phone will be success on market.

Good point about Nokia X5 is this phone combination of CDMA and GSM network. This day many other product from China with similar specification come to the market and success, But if they looking for quality of course Nokia will be recommended to buy. IF Nokia know what their costumer want Nokia will rules cellular phone market. Another point on this phone is “Enough”. What “enough” mean in my opinion? this phone has many function for high class phone this day but still there is some missing! said, TV tuner and Infrared. This day some people (including me hehe) want this function available on 1(one) phone.

Nokia x5 Style is great! qwerty phone this day is trend, no more 12 key phone will be sold this day. Battery performance on Nokia x5 is great also, it’s been designed to standby for 16 days without need to re-charge! just WOW. Music and Internet application already included, the screen is standard 320×240, I think it’s enough. Camera is 5 mega-pixels with flash, I think people already know which phone this day build camera with quality so i will not commenting for this function. Wifi and bluetooth for communication, it’s just enough.

What bad about Nokia x5? after reading this phone full specification I only found 3 bad point.

No Tv-Tuner… bye bye for TV mania.

No Infrared, This day many way of communication needed! included infrared I think?

Not support 3G/3.5G/EVDO/4G.

That’s it good point and bad point about this Nokia x5. Price in the Indonesian market should be around Rp 1.900.000 – Rp 2.300.000 It’s cheap if compared with other phone with quality and specification. Here is Nokia X5 full specification:

When Nokia introduced the series N76, there was something that seized attention. The N series of this one appeared to girly. Unlike other N series that first has emerged, that more often put forward futuristik design. Now, with the red colour metallic dominant, that was combined with lis silver shone, as well as the design of the thin fold, made N76 more featured his feminine impression. Moreover, when in the situation standby, screen outside changed to the mirror.

N76 used the concept flat keypad, that the measurement big button. Appear at first glance, was similar with keypad that was used by Motorola in the series of RAZR. Even was made from the metal material, the switch continued to be awakened his softness. Moreover with the big measurement, the switch was very ergonomic when being used.

Really comfortable used the based Symbian cellular phone series 60, that used UI S60 3rd edition. Beginning with starting that was fast, the response ordered that also fast (like when being used typed the SMS), as far as the function feature that walked very good. The quality of the voice did not need to be doubted. So also with the function of the connection, that accepted the consignment file PDF of 29 family planning, that were accepted only in a period less than two seconds. The video call was perfect.

1. Size and weight

The new Communicator is both smaller and lighter than the 9200. It weighs 222 g (22 g less) and measures 148 x 57 x 24 mm (it is 10 mm shorter and 4 mm thinner). Not much less, but still less, and with lots of new features inside. Smaller casing has been achieved mainly because of moving the loudspeaker to the right side (or top, depending on how you look at it) of the device and getting rid of the external antenna. And those 10×4 mm and 22 g really make a difference! The device looks and feels smaller and is much more comfortable to handle and carry.

2. Casing

The 9500 looks much more modern than the 9200, mainly because of its slightly streamlined edges and ‘facelifted’ phone part. 9500 suppors exchangeable phone covers – it is enough to press a small button located above the PopPort to release the entire front face along with the keypad. The earpiece has been moved from the back of the device to its front. It is now located above the phone display. Both hinges of the PDA cover now look much more solid. The ribbon is now hidden from the outside and only visible from the inside, which should provide additional protection. The back side of the device mainly consists of a huge cover that provides access to the battery, SIM card and memory card. Unfortunately, there is no hole in it which means that although hot-swappable, the MMC card is not as easily accessible as it should be. Instead of four tiny rubber feet, the 9500 has two long rubber stripes which make it very stable. The bottom part of the phone is occupied by the PopPort (accessories and USB), Infrared port and charger connector.

3. Displays

Like all Communicators, the 9500 is equipped with two screens – large PDA screen inside and small phone screen outside. As opposed to the 9210, the phone screen of the 9500 is now 16-bit color TFT matrix (128 x 128 pixels). It is of high quality and its white background makes it very clear even without backlight (which doesn’t happen too often as the backlight turns on automatically on any key press). The PDA screen is of the same 640×200 resolution, but now it is 16-bit (65,536 colors), too. Its quality can be described with just one word: amazing. It is much brighter than 9210′s display, colors are vivid and the contrast is very high. Both contrast and brightness can be adjusted in Control Panel, there is also a keyboard shortcut for quick brightness adjustment (four levels). The screen is covered by an anti-reflective layer – one can hardly notice any difference in quality even in direct sunlight.

4. Keys

Nokia 9500 offers new, improved phone keypad and totally redesigned PDA keyboard. Phone keypad consists of the same keys as in previous models, with several exceptions. “Profiles” key has been removed and switching profiles is now available using the Power key. Arrow keys have been replaced with five-way rocker key. Phone keypad is a separate element and it seems that exchangable phone covers may also contain keypads of different shapes and layouts. The keypad works OK; central keys could be a little bit larger, though. The PDA part offers the usual full QWERTY keyboard. It depends on your personal preferences, but for me the new keyboard is a huge step forward over the 9210 keyboard. Keys now work much more reliable, with much shorter way down and with firm resistance. You will always know that the key has been correctly pressed because you can feel that without having to check the screen or listening to the “beep”. There are no spaces between keys but they are slightly convex which prevents from accidentally pressing two or more of them. The new keyboard has two Shift keys on both sides. Besides the usual brightness, zoom and Infrared activation shortcuts, the 9500 keyboard offers also Bluetooth activation/deactivation shortcut and Synchronisation shortcut. Help key now requires pressing Chr simulaneously, which prevents accidental Help activation (it loads many times quicker, anyway). The 9210′s four-way navigation key has been replaced with 9-way rocker key (8 directions + OK/Enter). This is a huge improvement and it provides comfortable navigation and control, not only in the built in WWW browser but also in all other applications. For compatibility with older software, the keyboard also offers traditional arrow keys and the Enter key. The 9500 is equipped with eight application keys: Desk, Telephone, Messaging, Web, Contacts, Documents, Calendar and My Own which provide quick access to the most important built-in applications. My Own key can be configured to launch any system or 3rd party application of your choice.

5. Memory and CPU

This is where the power of the new Communicator comes from. The 9500 will offer over 80 MB of internal storage space – over 20 times more than 9210 and 5 times more than 9210i. Forget about any storage restrictions of the previous models, especially that, unlike in 9200 Communicators, all system software is in ROM drive, which means that you don’t have to install any system packages on the internal drive and you can keep it solely for your data and applications. RAM (operating memory) has been expanded to 64 megabytes, with most of it available for applications. This is over 10 times more than in 9210/9210i! The CPU (ARM-9 based TI OMAP 1510 dual-core RISC processor) is now three times faster (~ 150 MHz) and it uses more advanced ARM core and chipset. This, along with much faster memory chips, makes the device really fast. Storage memory of the 9500 can be further expanded using MultiMediaCards (MMC). Large cards work without any problems. With new, v4.0 specification compliant MMC cards to be available very soon (capacities up to 2 GB) we can fairly say that lack of SecureDigital format support is not really important as it wouldn’t provide any serious advantages. The same for SDIO – with the 9500 already supporting Bluetooth and WiFi there isn’t much left you could use via SDIO, anyway.

6. Data transmission

The 9500 is the first Communicator to support GPRS (53,6 kbps). And it goes even further with its support for EGPRS (EDGE), providing download speeds of up to 236.8 kbps. Of course, it still also supports CSD and HSCSD GSM data calls (up to 43,2 kbps). Users can also take advantage of the IP passthrough function which allows using desktop PC’s broadband connection via USB cable. Nokia 9500 is one of the first PDA-phones with Wireless LAN (WiFi, IEEE 802.11b) onboard. Quick and easy configuration in Control Panel’s “Connections” tab is the only thing you have to do to start browsing the Internet or your company or home wireless network at 11 MBit/s.

7. Connectivity

9500 Communicator supports Bluetooth data and audio. Supported Bluetooth profiles include: Generic Access Profile (GAP), Service Discovery Profile (SDP), Fax Profile (GW), Dial-up Networking Profile (DUN), Handsfree Profile (HFP), Serial Port Profile (SPP), Generic Object Exchange Profile (GOEP), Object Push Profile (OPP – client and server), File Transfer Protocol (FTP). The 9500 also supports Infrared connectivity and USB 2.0 cable connection (PopPort).

8. Sound

The new Communicator finally generates stereo audio. The only disadvantage is that there is no mini-jack connector which means that 9500 owners will have to use Nokia dedicated stereo headsets equipped with PopPort compatible plugs. Fortunately, a range of stereo accessories (including FM radio headsets) will be available from the manufacturer. Sound quality via both headset (stereo) and loudspeaker (mono) is very high.

9. Battery and standby

The 9500 uses new 1300 mAh Lithium-Polymer battery (BP-5L). According to Nokia, it provides up to 200-300 hours (WLAN off) or up to 180-240 hours (WLAN idle) of standby time and 4-6 hours of talk time. In real world it still gives up to 2-3 days of standby with average use, but of course it can be much less with heavy WLAN use and many GPRS and Bluetooth connections. However, even in such case it is very unlikely that you will have to recharge your phone during the day, which makes 9500 much more reliable and usable than power-hungry PocketPC PDA-phones often giving up the ghost early afternoon.

10. Camera

The 9500 is also the first Communicator to have a built-in digital camera. The resolution is VGA (640×480 pixels) only, but the main purpose of the camera is to support Multimedia Messaging (MMS), in which case it is more than enough. The camera is only accessible from the Phone side and the phone screen works as a viewfinder with pretty good refresh rate. The quality of pictures is slightly “above average” of VGA CMOS cameras (better than 9210′s Concord camera) but it could be better. Both still pictures and video recording with audio are supported by default.

11. Phone

Nokia 9500 is a tri-band phone. The device will be available in two separate versions, depending on region: EGSM 900/GSM 1800/1900 MHz and GSM 850/1800/1900 MHz.

Love it or leave it won’t do here, we’re afraid. Love it or hate it is more like it. There’s so much to get excited about with Nokia N78. The excellent display and capable camera, topped with Navi wheel, FM transmitter, GPS and Wi-Fi sure round off a nice deal. And yes, the latest FP 2 is a downright treat. If only… Well, you must know already what we think of the package. Anyway, you’re welcome to read on. Nokia N78 has a whole review up ahead to unleash its potential and a lifetime to beg for a facelift.

Nokia N78 stacks up just below the top of the multimedia phone market. The megapixel count and screen size are probably the only things to stop it from directly competing with the N95. It is still quite close and even offers a few features that the omnipresent Nseries ruler lacks.

A nice – even if somewhat humble – alternative of Nokia N78 is Samsung i550w. Carrying a very similar feature-pack, it trades the FM transmitter and the Navi wheel for a trackball and a larger 2.6″ screen. The best part about the Samsung is that it costs a great deal less than the Nokia N78, retailing at about 260 euro. Now, the FM transmitter and FP 2 are not exactly the first things one would choose to trade, but we can understand those willing to save themselves some money.

Another handset to rival the N78 is Nokia N82. The best cameraphone by Nokia to date is currently available for about 300 euro. The 5 megapixel camera comes with protective cover and Xenon flash, while a built-in accelerometer is also on offer. On the other hand, N82 too lacks the FM transmitter, which might sound as a deal-breaker to some.

The 6500 Classic is Nokia’s thinnest phone so far, and is a stunningly beautiful phone too, with its polished metal casing. It’s an easy to use phone that does just what most people want from a phone – make calls, take pictures and play music. Supplied with 1 Gbyte of memory and a stereo headset, it’s already equipped to go. The one thing missing from this 3G phone is video calling. We have deducted marks because of poor battery life and the small keypad. Available in Black or Bronze.

Now here’s a tasty-looking phone. Nokia have finally joined the ultra-thin revolution with the 6500 Classic phone. Incredibly it’s a 3G phone! And doesn’t it look nice, with its sleek aluminium casing (“individually polished”, according to the Nokia blurb) and available in Black and Bronze. Let’s pause a moment to enjoy the looks.

OK, having drooled enough, let’s look at the exterior of the phone in more detail. There’s absolutely nothing to complain about here. Whereas Sony Ericsson seem intent on destroying nice phones with unergonomic keypads, Nokia have learned their lesson from making “cool” keypads and have provided the 6500 Classic with a small but functional keypad and navigation key. The combination of an ergonomic design, a plain Series 40 interface (no Smartphone junk here!) make this an easy phone to use. Power it up, and the next thing to enjoy is the large and ultra high-resolution LCD display boasting the latest 16 million colour display technology. It’s a display that you can easily customise with a choice of themes (wallpapers, sounds, screensavers, and backgrounds).

The featurelist of the 6500 Classic… matches what you’d expect from a mid-range 3G phone in 2007: a 2 megapixel camera (no autofocus – so don’t throw away your digital camera!), a competent music player (although support for Bluetooth stereo headsets is missing), a video camera and good connectivity via USB and Bluetooth. There’s nothing to get very excited about here, but it ticks all the boxes that most people will care about. One obvious thing that’s missing, considering that this is a 3G phone, is video calling. There’s no front-facing camera, so video calling is out, I’m afraid. However, the sales package does include a Nokia Stereo Headset HS-82 and a microUSB Connectivity Cable CA-101, so we can’t fault Nokia for their generosity there.

One of the unusual features of the 6500 Classic is that it has a fixed memory of 1 Gbyte, of which around 920 Mbytes is available to the user. Now this has its good points and bad points. The bad point is that there’s no slot for increasing the memory beyond 1 Gbyte. But on the other hand, 920 Mbytes is enough to store 200-300 songs, which is certainly enough for most users, and it means that the memory is all easily accessible in one place, without any hassle of copying data from internal memory to memory card. Given the kind of phone that the 6500 Classic is (i.e. mid-range) we think that this is a perfectly good solution. Other thing to point out is that battery life is poor, which isn’t surprising for an ultraslim 3G handset. It’ll probably need charging every other day.

Make no mistake, the 7710 is a massive device. It weighs in at 195g (6.87oz) and measures up at 128mm x 69mm x 20mm (5.04″ x 2.72″ x .79″) in size. That is big, for sure, but still what I would consider pocketable – at least when compared to Nokia’s own 9500 Communicator, which is thicker, longer, and heavier. The size is understandable once you see the 7710′s beautiful 65k color TFT display. The display is capable of 65k colors and has a pixel resolution of 640×320. Its touch sensitive surface allows for input via a stylus that is located in a silo at the bottom right front corner of the device. The surface of the display seems reasonably resistant to normal wear and tear.

The main controls of the 7710 are……. the 5-way d-pad controller in the upper left corner, the menu and desktop buttons found below it, the two multi-function keys on the upper right hand corner, and the back/cancel key that is found just above the stylus silo in the lower right corner. Two small holes for the ear speaker are also located on the right hand side. The top edge is where you will find the voice dial button and the red and green call control buttons. These buttons are too close together and too small to be used easily, though. The release for the rear cover is also on the top edge of the 7710. The main power button is on the right hand side of the phone, and the power and pop-port connectors are on the bottom.

The 7710′s rear cover can be removed in order to get access to the battery, SIM, and MMC card slot. The device knows when the cover has been opened and automatically prepares the MMC card for removal. The MMC card can be swapped without removing the battery. The rear cover is a bit difficult to remove, and yet the fit is also not as tight as I would like. At least it doesn’t creak when you use the 7710. The opening for the ringtone and speakerphone speaker is on the back, as is the lens for the megapixel camera.
